الجائزة هي عبارة عن شهادة وميدالية ذهبية ومبلغ مالي. منذ سنة 1901 تحددت الجائزة المالية بخمسة ملايين كرونة (ما يعادل مليون دولار) . واذا حصل أكثر من شخص على الجائزة في نفس المجال يتم تقسيم المبلغ عليهم ولا يشترط أن يقسم بالتساوي
