Dietary habits among primary school children in al-Ismailia

Introduction: Time have changed, bad dietary habits and eating disorders are on the rise among children under the age of 12. We may lay the blame on any or a combination of the following: Internet addiction and video games, busy parents, lack of awareness of healthy eating and food choices
Aim: Improve the health states of scholar children who attend primary schools of Al-Ismailia through identify their dietary habits
Methodology: The data collection tools are questionnaire, interview and observation. Procedures: first of all we will interview the children in primary school then we will measure the weight and the height of each child.
Results: after forming the body mass index this study showed that 49, 4% of the children have normal BMI as those children have the three meals every day and they represent 92, 8%, about 39% eat salad every day while, Almost half (53.7%) eat fish once weekly and more than half (65.9%) eat meat 3 times weekly, drink milk and they represent (44, 6%) and those do exercises in the school every day represent (59%.) This shows that those children have good dietary habits underweight students represents percentage of (37, 4%), the obese children percentage is (2, 4%) which presents a low percentage, and finally the percentage of overweight children is (10, 8%) That study shows quite well results of the BMI of the primary school children (from 8 to 12 years)
Conclusions: A total of 83 students were randomly selected from wo different Primary schools in Ismailia city was enrolled in this study after forming the body mass index this study showed that 49, 4% of the children have normal BMI, the obese children percentage is (2, 4%) underweight students represents percentage of (37, 4%). and finally the percentage of overweight children is (10, 8%)
