A display reflecting the life and times of Mandela can be found at the Bhunga Build- ing section of the Nelson Mandela Museum in Mhatha. Mandela has received thousands of gifts from presidents, groups and ordinary people. Accepted on behalf of the people of South Africa, they are in safekeeping at the museum for the benefit and appreciation of the nation. Artefacts range from children’s let- ters to bejewelled camel covers.

To the south is the prominent rock forma- tion, the Hole in the Wall. The local Xhosa call this place Izi Khaleni ("Place of Thunder"). During high tide, the waves move through the hole in such a way that the concussion can be heard throughout the valley.
