Home Economics is one of the subjects studied in schools. Okeke (2004) noted that
Home Economics is both a body of theoretical knowledge based on exact sciences,
humanities and forms of technological practice. It is the study of everything that helps to
improve the home, and the family. Home Economics draws knowledge from many disciplines
such as biological, physical, and social sciences, and arts (Peterat & Khamasi, 1996). Badmus
(2007) and Aburime and Uhomoibhi (2010) explained that it is entrepreneurial-based because
it is a skill-oriented field of study that is expected to equip learners with saleable skills that
make for self-reliance/self employment and paid employment.
