A DSSC prepared from 23 (n=1) gave a good efficiency of 5.2%.The efficiency was reduced to about 3.9% with longer bridges (n=2, 3). Although dyes 23 with two and three repeating units have higher extinction coefficients, the highest efficiency was found for the shortest oligomer (n=1). This finding was attributed to the efficient charge separation.
