Gautam Rode: I will never leave one show to go to another
Saloni Bhatia,TNN | Jan 13, 2015, 12.00AM ISTWhatsappFacebookGoogle PlusTwitterEmailLinkedinText resize:AAAGautam Rode is treating the character of Rudra in Mahakumbh as a challenge. Not only is the actor sweating hard in the gym, but is also preparing himself mentally for this role, which requires him to look aggressive onscreen. "It's very challenging for me mentally. More than the physical aspect, it's quite difficult to act like Rudra, I am more of a fun-loving, jovial and a calm person. But my on-screen character is like an animal when he gets angry.Creating a different person is a great experience. I identified with my character in Saraswatichandra to some extent, but here, the way my character looks, walks and talks is the complete opposite of the way I am," he told us on a recent visit to Delhi for the promotion of his show. Rode also shared with us that he is happy that the show is a mini-series of 120 episodes and has a definite beginning and end, which won't be tampered with because of ratings. "TV is booming - in terms of the expansion - it has gone to places. The best thing about mini-series is that everything is already blocked. In daily soaps, once the ratings don't look good, the story changes, the actors change and the whole show goes for a toss. But here, five to seven intelligent people have gotten together and they are doing something for the viewers. It's pressurizing because we are shooting like a film. We want to come up with more seasons if this works," he stressed.READ: Gautam Rode isn't quitting SaraswatichandraWhen Rode had bagged Mahakumbh, there were reports that he was planning to quit Saraswatichandra, which is why it was taken off air. "It was never like that! Saraswatichandra's time had ended and on the fifth day, I was in Banaras shooting for Mahakumbh. I didn't even get a break in between. But I will never leave my show and go to another show. So, it was not that I left Saraswatichandra and went to Mahakumbh," he revealed.Set reminders for your favourite TV ShowsWe also asked him about Jennifer Winget, who was his co-star in Saraswatichandra and his equation with her, and he told us, "Jennifer and I speak more to each other now. She is a very good actress and I have always maintained that. But she had a different style and I had a different one," he said, adding, "We didn't have each other's numbers for more than a year after we met. We didn't exchange numbers. For us, it was all about acting." He also said that off-screen bonding is not needed to bring the chemistry on-screen. "We are playing a character and it's our ability, our conviction to portray that love in front of the camera. Jennifer and I used to speak on a professional front, but we never spoke to each other about our personal lives. As actors, we respected each other's space. But I have never been into a situation with a co-star ki 'hello, hi' bhi na ho," he opined.WATCH: Na Bole Tum actress opposite Gautam Rode in Mahakumbh - BTRELATED'Jennifer and I never spoke to each other about our personal lives'Bookmark or read stories offline - Download the TOI appWhatsappFacebookGoogle PlusTwitterEmailLinkedin"">Next Story »Bigg Boss Halla Bol: Karishma snaps at Rahul, asks not to flirt« Prev StoryMeghna Naidu: I have been here for 12 years and people still know me as the Kaliyon Ka Chaman girl
