After reading it and pondering, hopefully Kaneki's just conforming to the image that the CCG wants; they said they were trying to make another Arima, essentially, so by adopting the glasses and the similar moniker he's doing just that. It also gives him more leeway in terms of doing whatever he wants if he seemingly becomes the product that they were trying to create all along. I still think Kaneki has become fully aware of the way his mind and subconscious work, and that this isn't his normal paradigm of emulating his abuser(s).
But I don't get what he's trying to do, unless his long-term goal at this point is to find Yoshimura. If his goal was to ruthlessly rise through the ranks of the CCG to the highest rank possible, then he could have killed eto + shuu +kanae with prejudice to do that more effectively. I don't think he's particularly aware of V being the puppet master illuminati of the TG world, so the motivation to reach the deeper canals of the CCG doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Of course, the biggest contradiction that could ever occur would be Hinami's execution, then nothing about Kaneki's actions makes sense (and obviously, this is the time-constraint ken has to work with if he wants to use the CCG's resources to find Aogiri HQ or wherever he suspects Yoshi to be)
Maybe beyond saving Yoshi, he's still looking for his Jesus moment, in order to be loved by 'everyone.' The opportunity to resolve the human-ghoul issue and simultaneously sacrifice himself. Good luck with that Hopefully not, it sounds too much like lelouch..
As far as Eto goes, unless Ishida is teasing with all the innuendos..she's looking for a mate, or a king..definitely.(just judging by how she wants him to be just like her as a form of compatibility?) She isn't showing reverence of ken so I don't associate her theological musings to Kanae with her seemingly sexual perspective of kaneki. The consummation being what it is, her kakuja might have more intended residual effects on ken than he knows at this point. I would also say that her action of both awakening ken and giving him her kakuja has nothing to do with kanou's experiments given tatara's reaction to kanou's question. Need I say more?
I mean, before this chapter I really thought eto was trying to play mind-games on ken when she said she liked him and blah blah blah..but the bath-tub scene just makes that really unlikely. The pictures and the portrayal of the scene..
