4) English Proficiency Test: Applicants who have not completed their post-secondary study at an
institution in a country where English is the primary language of instruction are required to
provide evidence of satisfactory achievement by means of an acceptable English language test
prior to registration. The only English language tests acceptable for admission to programs
within the Faculty of Education are TOEFL and IELTS-Academic. Individuals who are admitted
normally demonstrate: IELTS-Academic – a score of 6.5 overall, no band less than 6, and 7 in
the Speaking and Writing Bands; TOEFL-ibt – an overall score of 98 (Reading: 23, Listening: 23,
Writing: 25, Speaking: 27). Applicants arrange to send TOEFL test results by electronic tape
directly to UBC (university code 0965 and department code 00).
