like Fair Trade is discussed in the Muslim community here in Germany.
Together with two colleagues from the “Heiße Zeiten” team I went to a small village close to Münster for the youth network meeting of “OpenGlobe” – this is the youth network of the Eine Welt Netz NRW with around ten local groups in different cities of North-Rhine Westphalia. It was very nice to meet these young volunteers. The meeting took place in a beautiful garden of one of the volunteers.
I went to the book market in Königsallee and enjoyed shopping in a flea market. I was invited to a backyard garden dinner by one of my colleagues and to a party in Essen. I visited the Düsseldorf TV Tower and flower gardens and since my work is in Kasernenstraße I could always enjoy walks beside the impressive Rhine River. However, the most exciting thing for me was to learn how to ride a bike by my friend Cynthia.
I am so grateful to have this experience and the good people who made it possible for a woman like me to come to Europe and share my experience, meet and make wonderful friendships and learn new things everyday as well. I am working for an NGO in Yemen where I could help my people and my society through implementing direct cash for work measures in remote poor villages. On the other hand, being an intern in the Eine Welt Netz NRW (One World Net Work-NRW) is making my first steps to work for social, economic and ecological justice on a global scale, and to global solidarity. Everyone in this organization, starting with the decision makers ending with the volunteers, are one family with one objective and I am so proud to be one of them now.
