see everything just by those eyes looking straight at you. And speaking of looking,
he was staring at me.
I was stunned at first. Why was he staring at me? When he took a step towards
me, that's when it clicked. Shit. RUN!!
I turned around and started walking, more like jogging, whatever you call it.
"Hey!" He called. I was now running. Something missed me by an inch. I took a
glance at my back and saw him throw a rock. I dodged it and doubled my pace. I
went to an alleyway that I knew too well and hid there till I know that he was no
longer following me.
I tried to catch my breath and sat at a nearby bench. I outrun him, it's a good
thing. But I was now late for my first period class and I'm soaking wet. So much
for being a nice student. Meh.
I walked towards the back gate of the school where I know it was open. I got in
and made my way towards the front hall of the school. It was a good thing that
students were now inside their classrooms so they wouldn't see how I looked.
I went to the gym's male locker room to change my clothes but found it locked.
Great. I'm stuck in this wet and filthy shirt. I'm so happy. Not.
I went to my classroom and opened the door. Everyone was now looking at me,
even the teacher, with unreadable expressions on their faces.
The teacher cleared his throat and composed himself. "Why are you late, Mr.
Michaels?" He asked. I just kept quiet and wandered my eyes to my friends that
was sitting at the back of the room.
"It seems you don't have any valid reason as to why you were late in my class
and disturb my lesson. So, if you wouldn't mind, I would like you to get out of
the room and stand in the hall." The teacher said. I was not in the mood to
argue so I did as he said.
I stood in the hall for the rest of the period. I was startled as the bell went oḀ㸂
above me, signaling that the period was over. I looked up to see Anna. The look
of concern is evident in the pretty features of hers.
"Why were you late, Bee? What happened to you?" She asked me as we went
down the hall towards the senior lockers. I just shrugged my shoulders and
shook my head.
"Dude! Why were you late at -- woah, what happened to you?" Jeremy asked
when I turned around to face him. I felt people's eyes on me but I just ignored
them. They're not important right now.
"Something came up." I said as I shrugged my shoulders like it was no big deal.
"Something came up? Dude, you look like you took a bath in a tub of mud pool
before you came here." Jeremy countered. I sighed and walked pass him.
I excused myself and went to the gym's male locker room to try and see if it's
open. And it was. Thank God.
I went inside and to my locker to get a dry shirt. It's a good thing I always bring
an extra shirt. For emergency use only and right now, it was one of them. I
changed into the dry shirt and put the wet one inside a plastic bag and into my
locker.
I went ro the window and saw that in was now pouring rain. I just hope it's just
rain and not a thunderstorm. I have a phobia for thunder and lightning and it
only worsen when my parents died. I tried to conquer my fear but it was no use.
I didn't conquer it at all.
In fact, I think it only worsen because now, if I could hear thunder, even from a
distance, I would collapse and pass out. My grandma didn't know this, not even
my friends. They only knew that I have a phobia, that was it. I didn't want to
worry them so I kept it to myself.
When I know that there's a storm coming up, I usually wouldn't go out of my
room and when the lightning strikes, that's when my body collapses. My
grandma always thought that I have overcome my fear but she's wrong. She's
dead wrong. But I won't tell her that.
I went back to the bench and took a glance at my watch. The second period will
start in about half an hour.
I rummaged my bag to get my I.D. I don't know why that teacher is so obsessed
with seeing her students wearing school I.D and being punctual though. It
frustrates me to no end. Gah.
She inspects every student before getting inside the classroom. She doesn't like
her students to be late either. If you're late, you better have the guts to face her
consequences. I shuddered as a memory of last year came to me.
No luck. I rummaged my bag further and even got the things inside out, but I
still didn't find it. I checked my locker but it wasn't there either. Shit. I'm
doomed.
It was almost time yet I still haven't found the eḀ㸂in' I.D of mine. I was running
out of time. Shit. I don't want to experience that again. It's terrifying! You don't
want to know what it was through.
I rummaged everything I see in the locker room but still couldn't find it.
In the end, I skipped yet another subject. Great. It'll be seen in my records. Ugh.
What a nice, lucky day I have. Not.
I waited for the bell to ring, signaling the end of the period. When the bell rang, I
made my way towards the cafeteria.
"Where the hell have you been?"
