ember 13, 2015The boxing tournament of the All Africa Games has finished in Brazzaville, Congo, where thirteen finals were held on the last competition day.An incredible total of 22 women and 173 men boxers from 30 countries fought for the medals in Brazzaville, where after seven hard competition days, the thirteen gold medallists have been revealed.Women’s boxers competed in the boxing event for the very first time, and the historic inaugural gold medal was earned by Algerian Flyweight (51 kg) Souhila Bouchene against Nigeria’s Caroline Linus.There was success for Nigeria in the remaining two women’s weight categories however, as both Kehinde Obareh (60 kg) and Edith Agu Ogoke (75 kg) won their finals.In the men’s section of the event, four APB boxers claimed the gold medal in the All Africa Games, including three Algerian fighters: Mohamed Flissi, Abdelkader Chadi and Abdelhafid Benchabla.Heavyweight (91 kg) Kennedy St. Pierre became the fourth APB fighter to triumph when he clinched his second successive title in this competition.Francel Moussiesse sealed a memorable Light Flyweight (49 kg) gold for hosts Congo, which was their first victory since the first edition of the Games 50 years ago.Bilel M’Hamdi secured a title for Tunisia, while Seyi Ntsengue was able to win a gold medal for Cameroon, which is the nation that will be hosting the 2016 AIBA African Olympic Qualifiers.A record number of 22 nations were able to win at least one medal in the All Africa Games, as Algeria topped the team rankings with five gold medals, and Nigeria finished runners-up after winning four finals
