Mindful Parenting InterventionsMindful parenting programs tend to be relationally orientedand focus mindful attention directly on parent–childinteractions. O’Brien et al. (2008) offer a review of theoretical rationales for mindful parenting. Here, we complement and expand that theoretical survey by reviewingempirical studies of mindful parenting interventions.The Mindful Parenting Program (MPP; Placone-Willey2002) is a manualized parenting intervention that incorporates mindfulness, breathing, and body awareness exercises. MPP aims to enhance parent–child connectedness viaparental mindfulness, self-awareness, and intentionality.This approach teaches parents to identify interactions thatresult in relational disconnections, such as emotionalwithdrawing or projecting anger (Altmaier and Malone
