في البداية السلطان كان يستمع للقصص فقط ليستمتع ويمضي وقته و جوابه كان بعد هذه القصص هو أنها عجبته فقط. بعد كل قصة السلطان كان يطلب من شهرزاد أن تحكي له قصة جديدة. في بعض القصص عندما كانت شهرزاد تتوقف بها كا قصة عبدالله السلطان كان في خيبة لأنه يظن أن القصة انتهت هنا يظهر أن السلطان بدأ يهتم كثيرا لمعرفة أحداث القصة.وفي نهاية هذه القصة السلطان طلب من شهرزاد أن تحكي له قصص حول الحيوانات ولكن ليس الحيوانات البرية هذا يوضح السلطان ربما لدية بعض المشاعر و ذو قلب طيب ولا يحب القسوة ولكن زوجاته الغير مخلصات جعلنه قاسي مع كل الناس.في وسط القصص السلطان كان يتحدث مع شهرزاد بلطف .هو شخصيته بدأت تتغير أكثر وأكثر خصوصا بعد قصة الخليفة هارون الرشيد و الرجل الاعمى. في هذه القصة السلطان رأى كيف الخليفة يتعامل مع الناس و يساعدهم. هو تعلم الكثير من الدروس و رأى كيف كانت نهاية الرجل الجشع و كيف الله كان رحيم معه في النهاية. هو توقف يفكر مع نفسه لبعض الوقت حول ما عمل والأشياء الخاطئة التي فعلها. هو ربما تمنى في نفسه أن يغفر الله له ويرحمه. بعد كل هذه القصص بدأ السلطان يطلب من شهرزاد أن تحكي له قصص حول الناس العاديين ربما هو أراد أن يهتم بهم و يساعدهم.
