I leaned on the doorway and watched her getting ready
When she was finished, I was already outside waiting for a cab. She locked the door behind her and luckily, a cab stopped in front of us. I got in the passenger
side and she climbed at the back.
"Where to?" The cab driver asked.
"Lady McQueen's Restaurant, please." Grandma said. What?! Lady McQueen's Restaurant? That's the famous five-star hotels here in
town! Oh my god! It's for rich people! And my grandma and I aren't fit to be there. We're not rich. We're just average.
Thoughts ran through my mind like a marathon and before I knew it, we were already outside the said restaurant. I stared at the outer design of the restaurant with awe. God. I never dreamt I'd be going to a place like this!
"Darren, let's go inside." My grandmother said. When I turned to her, she was already inside. I followed her and as soon as I was inside, I was once again captivated by the beauty of the design of the restaurant. If the outer one is
pretty, inside here is beautiful! I couldn't really explain it.
I was astonished at the design when I bumped into someone.
"I-I'm sorry. I didn't mean to." I said as I rubbed my forehead.
"No, no. It's okay. I wasn't hurt." He said. His voice was familiar but I can't remember where I've heard it. I looked up to see him but he was already facing the other direction. I was about to call him when my grandma called my attention.
"Darren, where have you been? I've been looking all over for you. Come, this way. They are already waiting for us." I turned around to see if the guys was still there but, to my dismay, he was already gone. So I followed grandma to a
secluded part of the restaurant. Must be the V.I.P lounge.
As we neared the table, I noticed that there was another person sitting there.
"There you are! We were getting worried that you might not show up." Lilian said and smiled.
"Sorry if we took so long." Grandma said. I just gave them a small smile before my gaze wandered to the guy sitting. Huh? Why do I feel like I've seen that broad back somewhere before. I shook my head and shrugged the feeling o?.
I was about to take my seat when the guy stood and turned.towards me. My eyes widened in shock and my jaw dropped. W-why is he here? His expression mirrored mine and we spoke at the same time.
"Darren?" Zee said
"Zee?" I asked
"You guys knew each other?" Lilian asked us. We turned our gazes toward them and saw confusion on their faces.
"Yes." I said.
"Yeah" Zee answered.
Again, we spoke at the same time. we looked at each other for a brief moment before I averted my gaze. I lowered my head to hide my flustered cheeks. Oh my
God!
"Hmm. Although I want to know how you two met, it's not important now. You two, sit down." George said with playfulness yet authoritative voice.
We both sat down. I sat beside Lilian and grandma. Zee sat beside his dad. Silence consumed us before the waiter served our foods. Once the waiter went, the silence continued until George broke it. He cleared his throat before he spoke.
"Alright guys, I, or rather, we have an announcement."
What will George say I swallowed my saliva in anticipation. And when he spoke again, I almost fainted. I looked at him in disbelief and shock. What the hell??
"You're kidding, right?" Zee said. It's obvious that he's as shocked as me. I turned to look at him and saw he was staring at his dad, hard. His dad just hook his head.
"No, son. We are not joking. You two are getting married."
