We have demonstrated the facile two-step synthesis of PANi–Fe2O3–rGO composite by an environmental-friendly approach and their application in voltammetric determination of HQ. The use of the PANi–Fe2O3–rGO modified electrode facilitates the charge transfer and effectively reducing the diffusion length of the HQ due to the synergistic effects from the combination between the three single components in the nanoscale. Excellent electrochemical performance in terms of detection limit, linear range, stability, reproducibility and freedom from interference was achieved for the PANi–Fe2O3–rGO electrode when the sensor exposed into HQ solution. We believe that this type of enhanced electrochemical performance of PANi–Fe2O3–rGO ternary composite based HQ sensor, combined with facile synthesis, low cost, scalable shows great potential for use in application relating to pharmaceutical, cosmetic industry and environmental monitoring
