Computers, mobile phones, Internet: we live in a thoroughly technical and technological society and are, without our noticing it, completely surrounded by technology. Mobile networks and the Web are our "new" communication systems, without which our society would not be able to function.
But it's not just citizens who are living a digital lifestyle. Public administrations and authorities are also fully embracing information technologies in order to communicate in modern ways. The term E-Government was already coined years ago to describe this concept.
E-Government leverages information and communication technology to strengthen and improve the quality and efficiency of public administration. Communication is made easier for citizens and businesses, costs are lowered and at the same time internal processes are sped up substantially. The quality and transparency of public services is raised considerably to everyone's benefit.
Simply put, E-Government has become a synonym for a modern state.
