رفضت الإدارة المركزية لشئون الصيدلة في وزارة الصحة رفع الحظر عن استيراد أو تداول السجائر الإلكترونية بالسوق المصري، موضحاً أسباب رفضها أن السجائر الإلكترونية هي فقط بديل عن السجائر التقليدية ولا تساعد في الإقلاع عن التدخين ولها نفس أضرار السجائر التقليدية لاحتوائها على نيكوتين ومواد أخرى ضارة.كشفت القوائم المالية للشركة الشرقية للدخان خلال الربع الأول من العام المالي 2019-2020، ارتفاع أرباحها بنسبة 7%، حيث حققت أرباحًا بلغت 1.05 مليار جنيه خلال الفترة من يوليو الماضي حتى سبتمبر 2019، مقابل أرباح بلغت 991.18 مليون جنيه بالفترة المقارنة من العام المالي الماضي.
