I hope my continued conviction and desire to learn and grow can show those who feel similar --- Islam is a religion and a lifestyle of peace, compassion, gratitude and love.

Last - what will your donation do for us? While our Launchgood campaign raised a good chunk of change for us (which as I mentioned we have not received yet though I will modify this when we do --- gofundme allows us to withdrawl funds at any time), with no emergency fund built and almost no room left on my only credit card (we had to use the Food bank last week) the Launchgood money was as planned to be used to minimize debts to allow me to work less overtime and be able to focus more time and energy into studying - but now with me not working that money will go to cover the difference between my short term disability and her mat. leave and our rent/bills (see the second video). Any amount we hoped could be used for debt (specifically credit card debt, though an outstanding vehicle debt and student loan loom over us as mentioned) is taken in the need to provide housing and shelter for my family. We now have a period of 4 months to survive and won't end up in a position in September where I can minimize my workload. We lived paycheque to paycheque as before my Shahadah (and sobering up / having my son) I wasted tonnes of money on my alcoholism and addictions and just on .. nothing (at least to show for it, aside from a car worth about $6-$8K but owe $18K on still - I personally was over $100K in debt 2 years ago).. Now this money I am asking for will help pay down the credit card worth $10000 (and only have that and the above mentioned student loan / automobile loan otherwise .. which combined for us, is approximately $50K still). If we hit our full goal of $6000 - it will allow my family and I to go on a road trip to Oregon as my wife and I never had a large ceremony or honeymoon (it was very small - us, the witnesses and the Imam), as I took an online real estate course there (which cost about $750 for the course and Oregon Realtor License application) to write my state license exam to become a Realtor down there which I can then transfer up here (versus having paid $10K here in Alberta). After that, I will have a great opportunity to utilize that to supplement my income more so than overtime can - allowing the goal to study can be realistic over the long term.
